The Island of Guam
We know that Guam is a place where a lot of people come to visit, or to stay for a short time. Many people find themselves stationed here, and struggle to explain to their families exactly where in the world they are, and what it is like.
So let’s tell you a little bit about our island home.
Guam is a beautiful island in Micronesia. The Native people are called Chamorro, and they have been living here on the island since about 2000 BC. They have a beautiful language and culture that are wonderful to learn about and experience.
Where is Guam? Right there!
Guam is a wonderful place for diving, snorkeling, and of course, for bringing your pets!
However, there is a lot you need to know about owning a pet here on the island. Remember that exotic pets like hedgehogs and turtles may be common is Asia, but they will not be allowed on Guam. An island ecosystem is very fragile, and the introduction of a single invasive species can destroy whole native populations of animals.
Of course, cats and dogs are allowed, but they must pass quarantine. Be sure to have your pet checked out before you come to Guam, and let us take good care of them while they are here. When you leave the island, you’ll want your pet to come with you! So make sure they are up-to-date on all their shots, and are taking preventative medication for heart-worms as well as for fleas and ticks.
